Overall Rating: 3.5 Stars
Brief Summary of the Storyline: Blake moves in next door to CJ. He’s a bit too much business and she’s a bit too wild. Their first meeting doesn’t go over quite as one would expect. It continues when she shows up at his office the next day to apply to be his secretary. What happened next becomes Simply Crazy.
Overall Opinion: I would have really loved this but it really was Simply Crazy. I get it Blake is a loose cannon but the way she took over CJ’s life would make anyone cringe. Not only did his friend but his mom and sisters helped join in on the crazy. They took on one big conspiracy again CJ. Somewhere in the book, they decided to add a plot. Blake originally moved to be closer to her sister. Her reasoning was to help protect her from the abusive ex-boyfriend she had left. No one knew about the abuse but Blake figured she could help, even though she lived nowhere near her sister. I did enjoy being able to ‘be’ inside both character’s head. You got a sense of who they were and I would have loved this book but the storyline was just over the top. There were so many people conspiring with Blake to drive CJ crazy. At some point, I couldn’t tell if it was to just get at him or to get with him.
POV: Both Blake and CJ back and forth
Overall Pace of Story: Pretty good.
Instalove: Not at all, well from CJ’s POV.
H rating: 4 – He put up with a lot.
h rating: 3 – She was a bit over the top.
Worthy to Remember: I loved the quotes at the beginning of the chapters. I also loved that it addressed the issues that veterans, who return home mentally or even physically injured, deal with trying to acclimate back into society.
Major Issues: In any other scenario, outside of a book, Blake would have been arrested.
Just because it just bothered me: Blake didn’t even inform CJ of Michelle’s ex-boyfriend troubles even though he owned a private security firm and could actually help.
Sadness level: It was sad that the bigger issue of Blake sister became a subplot.
Descriptive Sex: Yes very much so.
Closure: The author wrapped this up in a nice crazy bow. No cliff-hanger.
DONE!
